The renowned Greek singer Natassa Theodoridou paid a surprise visit to the Greek Centre in Melbourne on Wednesday, the 31st of May.
Ms Theodoridou was welcomed by Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) President Bill Papastergiadis OAM and GCM Board member Leonidas Vlahakis, as well as GCM staff members Jorge Menidis and Antonia Tsamis.
During her visit, Natassa Theodoridou was taken on a tour of the building, where Leonidas Vlahakis informed her about the GCM's education and cultural programs. They specifically discussed the upcoming Summer Camp program organised in Thessaloniki.
The chair of the Cultural Program, Leonidas Vlahakis, stated, "It was terrific to have the incredibly talented Natassa Theodoridou at the Greek Centre. She is indeed a great artist, leaving an indelible mark in the world of music."
The famous singer was very impressed with the variety of events and programs and congratulated them on their efforts to keep the Greek spirit alive.
The Greek Centre hosts a broad variety of activity including an extensive schedule of Greek language, Ancient Greek language and Greek for beginners classes. It hosts regular musical performances (Live at The Greek) and the acclaimed Greek Language and Culture Seminar Series.
The Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture (Greek Centre) was completed by the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) at its Lonsdale Street site in 2014.
The 15 level building houses the head office of the GCM, 3 levels of event / conference / education spaces, the GCM library and lounge and 10 levels of leased space that are home to businesses such as the National Bank of Greece and the Institute of Tertiary and Higher Education Australia (ITHEA).
