Former Greek military chief Michail Kostarakos died at the age of 67

The former Head of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), Michail Kostarakos, passed away at the age of 67.

General Kostarakos was hospitalised with cancer at the 404 General Military Training Hospital in Thessaloniki.

He was Chief of the General Staff of the National Defence from November 1, 2011 to September 15, 2015.

The former Greek military chief was born in Thessaloniki in February 1956.

He graduated from the Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki. Michail Kostarakos then entered the Evelpidon Military School in 1974 from which he graduated in 1978, named Second Lieutenant of Artillery.
