A cargo ship was severely damaged in a collision with another cargo vessel off Chios island.
Both ships had foreign flags. However, the captain refused assistance from Greek rescuers and port authorities and decided to head towards Turkey instead.
Fortunately, there were no casualties among the 32 crew members, and both ships were not carrying any cargo or taking in water. The damaged Vanuatu-flagged 'ANT' had a crew of 13, while Singapore-flagged 'Potentia' had a crew of 19.
Despite the Greek Coast Guard's efforts to offer help, the ANT's captain declined assistance and was escorted by a Turkish coast guard vessel. Meanwhile, tugboats sailed towards the Potentia, and the cause of the accident remains unknown.
