Man Pleads Not Guilty in Alleged Car Theft from Nick Kyrgios's Mother

A man facing charges of stealing Nick Kyrgios's car from the tennis star's mother at gunpoint has pleaded not guilty in relation to the incident.

The individual, whose identity is being withheld for legal reasons, entered a not-guilty plea for five charges, including aggravated robbery, driving a vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, resisting a public official, and driving while suspended.

The 32-year-old accused appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court via phone link from custody. Allegedly, he brandished a gun, threatened Kyrgios's mother, and demanded the keys to the tennis star's green Tesla parked nearby, even requesting her assistance in operating the vehicle.

Kyrgios promptly contacted emergency services and used a smartphone app to track the car's location, providing the information to the police.

The app also restricted the car's speed to 80 km/h. Police pursued the driver after locating him, but the suspect reportedly fled, resulting in the pursuit being terminated when the car entered a school zone.

Eventually, officers relied on the app's location data to relocate the vehicle and apprehend the individual, who allegedly resisted arrest. Magistrate Glenn Theakston scheduled a pre-trial hearing for July 18.
