Tottenham Hotspur manager Postecoglou sold his Tuscan-styled Melbourne house “substantially” above its asking price as he prepares to move to London following a vacation in Greece.

After being voted manager of the year in Scotland and leading the Glasgow-based team to a record-breaking treble, the former South Melbourne Hellas coach is now moving to the English Premier League.

It was confirmed this week that Postecoglou would become the Spur’s new manager on July 1 after they offered him a four-year contract off the back of Celtic’s Scottish Cup final win last Sunday.

While grappling with these career changes, the three-bedroom Toorak home he listed in May also sold – gifting the Melbourne-raised soccer boss a more than $200,000 bonus on the top end of his initial $3m-$3.3m price range.

Although the sale price was undisclosed, industry sources say the 1/75-81 Grange Rd pad snared a sale above $3.5m, after multiple offers were placed on the property.

Kay & Burton Stonnington partner Darren Lewenberg handled the sale but declined to comment on the exact price.

Mr Lewenberg noted that the property sold to an investor for a sum that was “substantially in excess” of the original asking price and set a new record for the award-winning Villaggio development.

“They’re incredibly pleased,” Mr Lewenberg said of Postecoglou and his wife Georgia.

“We had an enormous amount of numbers through but one buyer was very eager and had all their finances organised, and they provided an offer which was certainly acceptable to the vendor. Everyone was very, very pleased.”

He added that the purchaser had regularly walked past the luxury development for a “very long time” and always “romanticised the notion of securing one”.

“They had their eye on one of the front townhouses so when it came up they contacted us straight away and were one of the first through,” Mr Lewenberg said.

“They loved the soul of the property, it’s so impeccably built and they loved the Toorak location.”

PropTrack data shows the Postecoglous paid $3m for the pad in an off-market deal in 2016.
