Massive turnout for Athens pride 2023 attack by fascists on trans

The central event of Athens Pride 2023, the big celebration for the LGBTQ+ community was at Kotzia Square.

There was a massive participation of many important artists who raise their voices for the full recognition of their rights.

This year, actor and screenwriter Giorgos Kapoutzidis took over the presentation of the event, which is not taking place at Syntagma Square due to elections. After the colorful parade, the musical part of Athens Pride 2023 followed, featuring Eleni Tsaliogopoulou and Bessy Argyraki.

Among others, musician Spyros Grammenos and stand-up comedian Chrysa Katsarini participate in the event.

Among those present was also the leader of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras.

Around 9 o'clock, the first incidents occurred when a group of about 20 fascists set up an ambush at the intersection of Aeolou and Sofokleous streets, attacking a trans person and stealing their flag. There are also reports of attacks on two immigrants.
