A professional fisherman spotted a shark two miles outside the port of Zakynthos, between Kyllini and Kefalonia.
The experienced captain saw the shark from afar and approached with his boat to see exactly what it was. He was surprised to find that it was a shark, probably a Mako of the longfin family.
As he said, speaking to ERT Zakynthos, the shark was not aggressive at all, on the contrary, it was calm and "swam like a dolphin next to his boat".
This particular species of shark is migratory, found at great depths and does not come to beaches.
