The 20-year-old was at a 'well-known club' in Laganas on the Greek island of Zante (Zakynthos) when he lost consciousness in the pool at 10pm last night, according to ERT Zakynthos.
One of the bar staff reportedly spotted the man face down in the pool and alerted a lifeguard.
The lifeguard pulled the British man out of the water and gave him CPR, but he was pronounced dead after being taken to Zakynthos hospital by a private ambulance.
The bar manager told local newspaper Topontiki the man didn't drown and that all safety measures were being followed in the business.
An autopsy will be carried out in the city of Patras to determine the young Briton's cause of death.
Zante Police is investigating to find out what happened and spoke to the manager and staff at the club.
