"Women in Comedy": The first festival for female stand-up comedians is coming to Greece

Women In Comedy

The stand-up comedy festival "Women in Comedy" comes to Greece for the first time with a delightful all-female lineup, for two nights only on Wednesday, September 6, at the Byron Rocks Theatre "Melina Merkouri" in Athens, while a stop in Thessaloniki will precede it.

With the support of Women In Comedy UK, which has been held for 11 years in Manchester, the Greek version of the festival aspires to highlight the female artists of stand-up comedy in Greece.

It is a celebration of the visibility of female comedic talents to support, empower and promote the participation of women, femininities and non-binary people in comedic artistic events.

On September 6, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy well-known and beloved stand-up comedians and meet new, up-and-coming and promising comedians.

A total of 14 artists, Chrysa Katsarini, Hera Katsouda, Dimitra Nikitea, Christina Voulgari, Irini Xygaki, Melina Kolia, Elektra Angeletopoulou, Athena Kefalopoulou, Alexandra Papantoniou, Maria Koufomanoli, Rouli Bouranda, Emily Danou, Konstantina Daouti and Lina Thomopoulou will perform.

On the day of the festival, visitors will have the opportunity with their ticket, in addition to the performances, to attend workshops and visit informative stands on gender issues in the first visibility celebration of Greek stand up comedy.

The festival will also stop in Thessaloniki on Monday, September 4 at the Garden Theatre with a slightly different line up from Athens.
