The first heatwave of the summer is just around the corner, with the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens warning of extremely high temperatures in the next few days.

According to the latest weather forecast by meteo.gr, high temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius locally will prevail until Friday, July 7, 2023.

And this will be the first heatwave of this summer.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 37-38°C in places, both in continental and insular areas of Greece.

The summer north winds (meltemia) on Saturday, July 8, will help the temperatures decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.

The METEO unit of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA), in collaboration with the scientific committee of the Arsht-Rock Resilience Center of the Atlantic Council, operationally categorizes days with high temperatures for six major Greek cities.
