Tragic Death of British Tourist in Greek Quadbike Accident Highlights Safety Concerns

A tragic incident occurred on the Greek island of Zakynthos, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Ryan Bennet, a British tourist. The accident took place when the quadbike he was riding rolled over, crushing him. Ryan's fellow passenger, 19-year-old Liam Cassels, sustained minor injuries.

According to Greek police, the incident happened at 2:30 am in the Alikanas resort area. A police spokesperson stated, "It appears the victim lost control, although the exact cause remains unknown."

After the accident, Ryan was immediately transported to the general hospital on the island, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities intended to transfer his body to Patras, the nearest city in western Greece, for a postmortem examination.

Police confirmed that toxicological tests would be conducted and mentioned that both teenagers were wearing helmets. They also clarified that no other vehicle was involved in the incident.

The Greek authorities assigned traffic police in Zakynthos to lead the investigation. A source familiar with the matter said, "From what we know, the bike was not being driven at high speed, and it appears to have been an accident. These vehicles can be dangerous."
