According to a tweet by Yanez Lenarcic, the Commissioner for Crisis Management, it has been announced that four Canadair aircrafts from France and Italy will be arriving in Greece to aid in extinguishing the wildfires.
This comes after the activation of the Civil Protection Mechanism. Lenarcic specifically mentioned that two Canadairs from the EU Civil Protection Pool in France and two Canadairs from the rescEU fleet in Italy will be mobilized to Greece and are expected to arrive today.
Additionally, he mentioned that pre-positioned firefighters from Romania are already on the ground providing assistance.
