The near entirety of Greece, particularly Attica, Boeotia, Fokida, Evia, Corinth, Argolida, Arkadia, Lakonia, Messinia and the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria, Naxos, Limnos, Skyros and western and southern Crete, are facing a very high fire risk on Wednesday.

Strong northerly winds of up to 8 on the Beaufort scale in the Aegean and in eastern regions, in combination with the very hot and dry conditions prevailing in the country over the last few days, have significantly increased the flammability of the forest fuel.

The pyrometeorological conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be classed as highly dangerous for wildfire weather type Hot-Dry-Windy.

Finally, the latest available data show that adverse pyrometeorological conditions will continue over the coming days as temperatures significantly increase.
