Some residents of Sitia in eastern Crete had an unusual idea to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. They are preparing to cook 800 kilos of kakavias!
According to eKriti, the mayor of Sitia Giorgos Zervakis sent an open invitation to everyone through Radio Crete. He gave an appointment in the city square for August 18, where the project will take place.
The mayor also said that the cooking vessel in which the kakavia will be boiled in the presence of famous chefs and judges who will come from England for the competition has already been made.
It is a stainless steel cauldron with a capacity of 1,600 litres, in which 800 litres of delicious kakavia will be prepared.
Also, the clay vessels in which the seafood dish will be served have been ordered, which will also bear the event's logo.
300kg of fish of various species will be used for the kakavia. For this purpose, professional and amateur fishermen have been mobilized in order to collect the giant fish.
