Cyprus-Greece Ferry Service Sets Sail from Larnaca: Almost 300 Passengers Embark on First Journey to Piraeus

In an eagerly awaited voyage, the Cyprus-Greece ferry service set sail from Larnaca to Piraeus with a total of 274 passengers, 60 cars, 15 motorcycles, and 11 pets on board. The popular ferry service, which had been operating only from Limassol, added Larnaca to its schedule this year, attracting enthusiastic response from travellers.

The Daleela ferry departed Larnaca port at approximately 11 pm after boarding commenced at 6:30 pm. Paris Demetriou, General Manager of Kition Ocean Holdings, expressed his satisfaction with the start of the sea connection from Larnaca to Piraeus, noting that everything proceeded smoothly during the boarding process.

“The seats for August are already sold out,” Demetriou added, indicating the strong demand for the ferry service. Kition Ocean Holdings successfully collaborated with the ship-owning company, travel agents, and the competent authorities of the Republic, ensuring a hassle-free and prompt journey.

Representative Marios Michael from Scandro Holdings, the shipowner, acknowledged the smooth start of the first day despite initial expectations of potential difficulties. He praised the cooperation of passengers, the port's managing company, and the state's competent services, contributing to the seamless experience.

While advising passengers to be patient with boarding procedures, especially security checks, Michael highlighted that most travellers on the inaugural voyage were families with small children.

The Daleela is expected to transport over 4,000 people and 1,700 vehicles during the summer run. With 16 crossings planned between Greece and Cyprus, the final journey will occur on September 1.

Last year, during its debut season, the ferry served around 7,500 travellers and transported 2,500 cars. The service gained popularity among students seeking cost-effective and convenient transportation for their belongings abroad. Additionally, the ferry offers an alternative means of travel for those with flying concerns, establishing itself as an essential transportation option for diverse travellers.
