Trabzonspor-AEK: Tourist ad for the illegally occupied territories of Cyprus

AEK travelled to Trapezounta (Τραπεζούντα, Turkish: Trabzon) yesterday and faced Trabzonspor in the last friendly game of the summer preseason. The Athens team prevailed 1-3, making another very good appearance, but a non-competitive issue from the game surfaced today, thanks to social media users.

As many have noticed, on the billboards of Şenol Güneş Sports Complex, an advertisement of the Turkish tourism board was playing that read "Come to North Cyprus," inviting tourists to the Turkish-occupied territories of Cyprus.

Understandably, there were reactions from the people watching the match, and several comments were made on social media.

AEK won thanks to goals by Levi Garcia (31'), Niclas Eliasson (41') and Tom van Weert (75'), with Trabzonspor's solitary goal coming from Maximiliano Gomez Gonzalex (54').
