Pakistanis in Greece protested in front of the Indian Embassy in Athens on Sunday against the country's sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Directus, they arrived at the embassy with two buses. There, the organisers distributed various snacks to those who gathered!

The outlet also questioned why the Pakistani embassy was open from 9 am to noon on Sunday. The embassy opening on Sundays usually only happens in exceptional cases, suggesting the embassy is the organiser behind the so-called "Friends of Kashmir" NGO.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, which fully integrated Jammu and Kashmir into India, elections were conducted from the village Panchayat level to the district level for the first time.

He said that over 33,000 local representatives were elected, stressing that for the first time in many years since independence, democracy was established at the grassroots level in the state.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and leader of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, stated on Sunday (6 August) that those opposing the abrogation of Article 370 lack knowledge about the history and geography of the Union territory.

Azad's statement came amid the Supreme Court hearing on a series of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the government's decision on 5 August 2019 to scrap the special status of the erstwhile state guaranteed under Article 370.

During an interview with news agency ANI in J&K's Doda, Azad indirectly criticised regional parties without explicitly mentioning them.

According to the former Congress leader, those opposing the revocation of Article 370 in the Supreme Court are "ignorant of the situation on the ground, as well as the history and geography of Jammu and Kashmir".

"Article 370 was not meant for any particular area, province or religion but was equally beneficial to all," the former Congress leader reports ANI.

Expressing full faith in the Supreme Court, the former Congress leader stated that he believed the court would thoroughly examine all aspects of the abrogation of Article 370.

Earlier in an official release, the BJP stated that the abrogation of Article 370 has resulted in peace, development, and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir.

On the fourth anniversary of the revocation of Article 370, former J&K chief minister and People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti claimed that she, along with other senior party leaders, was placed under "house arrest".
