Greek authorities have successfully evacuated and rescued 48 migrants from a rudderless inflatable boat off the coast of Lesbos island.

The migrants were safely transported to the port of Mytilene, the capital of the island, with three individuals requiring hospitalization for medical treatment. While the ethnicities of the migrants were not mentioned by the coast guard, a YouTube video released by them suggests that most of them are Africans.

The packed inflatable boat subsequently sank. Recent weeks have witnessed an increase in migrant arrivals from Turkey to Greece, primarily by sea, due to favorable summer sailing conditions.
