A Malaysia Airlines flight was forced to return to Sydney Airport after a passenger caused a disturbance on board by making alarming references to Islam.
The man, wearing a backpack strapped to his stomach, stood up in the aisle and shouted that he is a "slave to Islam." Australian Federal Police officers are currently responding to the incident.
The plane is stationary on the tarmac, temporarily closing down one of the airport's runways. Passengers have been evacuated from the aircraft, and a 45-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to be charged later tonight. Malaysia Airlines has stated that the safety of its passengers and crew is of the utmost importance.
