Magic Johnson Hosts $180K/Night 'Greek God and Goddess' Extravaganza Aboard Luxury Megayacht

NBA legend Magic Johnson recently embarked on a lavish six-week yacht vacation that took him on a luxurious journey through the Mediterranean, offering an unparalleled experience of luxury, relaxation, and adventure. Johnson, accompanied by his wife Earlitha "Cookie" Johnson, chartered the spectacular megayacht Phoenix 2, indulging in the epitome of opulence as they explored some of Europe's most captivating destinations including Mykonos, Oia, Kefalonia, Kalami and Santorini in Greece.  Throughout the voyage, Magic Johnson and his guests enjoyed unforgettable nights of entertainment, including themed events such as a masquerade party and a "Greek god and goddess extravaganza," which added an extra layer of excitement to the itinerary of their luxurious journey.

Grand Voyage through the Mediterranean

Magic Johnson's voyage began in Antibes, France, setting the stage for an unforgettable escapade around the Mediterranean. The retired basketball star and his entourage, which included family, friends, and even A-list celebrities like Michael Jordan, Samuel L. Jackson, and Judge Greg Mathis, sailed through a series of enchanting locales. The yacht's itinerary featured stunning ports of call, including Portofino, Capriccioli, Capri, Positano, Nerano, and Sicily in Italy, as well as the Corinth Canal, Mykonos, Oia, Kefalonia, Kalami, and Santorini in Greece. The journey continued through Montenegro and Dubrovnik, Croatia, adding an air of exclusivity to the adventure.

Phoenix 2: A Yacht of Unmatched Elegance

Magic Johnson's choice of vessel, the Phoenix 2, is a true masterpiece of maritime luxury. Boasting a length of 90.10 meters (296 feet) and a beam of 13.8 meters (45 feet), this Lürssen-built megayacht is a sight to behold. The yacht's striking exterior is matched only by its sumptuous interior, designed by the renowned Andrew Winch.

Phoenix 2 features seven exquisite cabins that can accommodate up to 12 guests, each offering a unique blend of comfort and sophistication. The highlight is the split-level master apartment, accessible via its own private staircase, where panoramic ocean views and a private terrace with a Jacuzzi redefine luxury living. The remaining cabins, connected by a central elevator across three decks, offer flexibility and elegance, with some being convertible into family accommodations.

Beyond its stunning accommodations, the Phoenix 2 spoils its guests with an array of world-class amenities. The yacht boasts three inviting pools, including a large oval pool on the sun deck surrounded by sunpads and an additional Jacuzzi tub forward. An indoor and outdoor movie theatre, a fully equipped gym, and a wellness centre complete with massage rooms and a beauty salon ensure that every aspect of relaxation and enjoyment is catered to.

Throughout the voyage, Magic Johnson and his guests were treated to nights of unforgettable entertainment. The yacht's crew organised themed events like a masquerade party and a "Greek god and goddess extravaganza," bringing an added layer of excitement to the luxurious journey.

The Price of Extravagance

Indulging in such opulence naturally comes at a cost. The charter rates for the Phoenix 2 start at €1,150,000 (approximately $1,254,000) per week. For Magic Johnson's six-week voyage, the estimated expenditure on the yacht alone stands at around $7.5 million. This price includes not only the stunning accommodations but also the unparalleled service of a crew of 29 professionals, ready to assist and cater to the guests' every need.

A Grateful Farewell

As the lavish vacation drew to a close, Magic Johnson expressed his gratitude to the staff and crew of the Phoenix 2 for ensuring a remarkable and unforgettable experience. He shared his appreciation on social media, highlighting the meticulous planning and effort that went into making his voyage an exceptional one.
