Firefighting forces on Sunday continued to battle the blaze that broke out on Saturday in Melia Alexandroupolis. A total of 48 fire engines with a 176-member crew, ten teams of firefighters on foot assisted by seven firefighting aircraft and four helicopters, four of them holding a coordinating role, are operating in the area.

The efforts now focus on a large fire front still raging east of Loutros village, while the picture is better on the other fire fronts.

Police have again suspended traffic on Egnatia Odos Kipi-Alexandroupolis due to the raging wildfire in the area.
