Giancarlo Fisichella, with 231 participations and three victories in F1 but is now a successful Endurance Race driver, has been in Mykonos for a few days. He will participate in a kart race with other Formula 1 and two-wheel drivers to raise public awareness of road safety.
The founder of the organisation safe-drive.org and the representative of the Nazionale Piloti in Greece, Kostas Mastorakis, in collaboration with the President of the football team of the pilots, Mario di Natale, organise for the second year in a row, the "friendly" karting race at the Kartland track Aegean island.
This year the appointment is scheduled for August 24, and the list of drivers and riders who have already checked in their tickets to Mykonos is impressive:
- Giancarlo Fisichella, 231 participations and three victories in F1, is now a successful driver of Endurance Racing
- Vitantonio "Tonio" Liuzzi, former Formula 1 driver and current Fédération Internationale de Motorsport referee
- Riccardo Patrese, former F1 driver with 257 GP, six wins, eight poles and 37 podiums
- Ivan Capelli, former F1 driver with three podiums in 98 appearances
- Luca Filippi, former Indycar driver, Formula E, GP2
- Marco Bezzecchi, rider of Mooney VR46 Racing in MotoGP, with two wins in 29 starts
- Franco Morbidelli, rider of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, with three wins in 91 starts
- The legendary Giacomo Agostini, with eight titles in 500cc and ten wins in TT Isle of Man
- Vito Popolizio, former racing driver
- Maro Engel, endurance racing and DTM driver
For those who don't know, the Nazionale Piloti is the Formula 1 drivers' football team - members of the group are current drivers and F1 drivers who have hung up their racing jerseys - which has been around for 40 years.
The Nazionale Piloti has collected 16 million euros for public benefit actions through the matches it has given over the years.
In Greece, we had the pleasure of seeing the team in question at the Karaiskakis Stadium in August 2006 at the Stadium of Atromitos in Peristeri in 2007 and also in 2022 in Mykonos, with Max Biaggi being the only two-wheeled star who attended the event.
