Below are two photos from the fire in Avlonas, half an hour apart. The first photo is taken at 12:05 and the second at 12:35, proving how quickly - within 30 minutes - the flames spread.

Also, in the first photo, it appears that the fire started next to the road, which, according to Proto Thema, indicates that the fire was caused by arson.

The rapid development of the front is proven by the following photos (the first at 08:57 and the second at 09:57)

The deputy press representative of the Fire Department, Deputy Fire Chief Yiannis Artophios, during the emergency briefing on the forest fires, which he held today at 12:20 from the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management in Marousi, said: "At the foot of Parnitha, in the wider area of Avlona, in the last 24 hours, the fire brigades faced a total of 12 fires, before they expand to dangerous proportions. Also, it has been observed that some are using unmanned aircraft systems in the wider area of the Parnitha fire. We inform you that the airspace of operations for dealing with the fire has been reserved by the directive of the Civil Aviation Service exclusively for aerial firefighting. In any other case, flight safety conditions are violated."

As the deputy regional governor of Attica, in charge of Civil Protection, Vassilis Kokkalis, told SKAI 100.3, at least five fires broke out in the Asprochori Avlona area in the last two hours. He pointed out that the fire brigade extinguished one fire, and after a while, another broke out in a different place in the same area.
