The second underwater wedding in Alonnisos is now a fact.
On August 19, Alexandros and Artemis from Thessaloniki took vows of eternal love at the impressive bottom of Alonnisos.
The couple was married by the Mayor of Alonnisos, Petros Vafinis, in the presence of the best man, seven friends of the newlyweds, three diving instructors and the President of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality, Maria Agallou.
"Underwater weddings are part of the wider strategy of the Municipality to establish Alonnisos as an international diving destination. In Alonnisos, the underwater wedding is a viable experience with minimal costs," said the Mayor of the island, Petros Vafinis.
After all, for this purpose, the Municipality, in consultation with the diving centres of the island, provides, until the end of this season, incentives for couples to exchange vows of eternal love under the water, providing them with diving equipment, training courses and transportation to the diving site without any charge.
"Along with underwater ceremonies, the island is a magnet for weddings in exotic locations and picturesque chapels this summer. Occupancies for August range between 90% and 100% for long periods, while September is also expected to see high traffic. The interest in diving and underwater weddings remains undiminished," added the Mayor.
