The Fire Brigade found and collected the charred body of a man on Thursday afternoon on a rural road that links Lefkimi with Aghia Paraskevi at Dadia National Park.

The body was transferred to the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis morgue, the Fire Brigade said.

Elsewhere, a 45-year-old man who was detained over suspicions of arson earlier in the day was arrested for arson on Thursday afternoon.

Residents of Avlona, north of Athens, reported him as driving suspiciously in his car in areas where fires broke out at the Mt. Parnitha region.

According to AMNA, he appeared to be facing emotional problems.

Another 45-year-old who had also been detained at Avlonas after being found outside his car watching a fire in the area through binoculars was set free.

At the same time, two 31-year-old men who had been brought in for questioning over arson suspicions in Menidi (or Acharnes) in the southern part of Mt. Parnitha were also released.
