Fires in Andros and Grammatiko

Two fires in the areas of Vitali and near the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi are underway on the island of Andros.
According to the Fire Department, the fires are burning low vegetation and may have been caused by a lightning strike.

12 firefighters with 6 vehicles are operating to extinguish them, assisted by 1 helicopter and 2 aircraft.

A message has been sent to the residents of the area Gides, on the islands of Andros, to evacuate due to the fire.

Another fire broke out in low vegetation in the area of Grammatiko in Marathonas. According to the Fire Department, the fire was probably started by lightning as intense lightning activity was observed in the area.

45 firefighters with 12 vehicles, 2 teams on foot are operating in the area, while 2 helicopters are providing assistance from the air.
message was sent via the emergency number 112 to the residents of Gides, on the islands of Andros, to evacuate the area due to the fire.
