Greece is set to end its contract with Russia for maintaining Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile systems and is reportedly looking to transfer these systems to Ukraine through intermediary countries, Pronews.gr reported on August 25.

In a leaked classified document from the Greek parliament, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias noted that there won’t be any new contracts for the procurement of spare parts or the upkeep of short-range air defense systems.

This development signifies a countdown towards their eventual obsolescence, as available spare parts are projected to last just a few months.
President Zelensky has urged Greece to transfer these air defense systems to Ukraine and to ensure the safeguarding of Black Sea waters.

The contract for the continued support of these systems in the upcoming years was valued at over 102 million euros.

Greece entire stockpile of the systems include 21 Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems and 38 Osa-AKM systems,
