A shipwreck with dead refugees and migrants occurred on Monday morning in Turkish territorial waters to the northeast of Lesvos, with the country's authorities not responding to pleas for help.
According to ERT, the shipwreck occurred within Turkish territorial waters, yet the country's authorities did not respond to calls for rescue.
The Greek Coast Guard was mobilised for the shipwreck, which rescued 23 people and collected four bodies.
All the rescued have been transferred to Mytilene.
Elsewhere, police officers on the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes carried out a raid on a hotel that had been hosting dozens of undocumented migrants on Thursday.
The hotel’s owner and two employees were arrested and face charges for facilitating the illegal stay of ththird-countryationals in Greece.
According to local media, the police were acting on a tipoff.
Police also arrested 84 migrants at the facility who could not produce the necessary documents for their stay in Greece.
Hailing from different countries, the migrants were slated for transfer to a Reception and Identification Center.
