SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance member Stefanos Kasselakis declared his intention to run for party president in a letter to the Prefectural Committee of Chania on Monday.
According to his office, he will begin campaigning at Chania, his city of origin in western Crete.
Specifically, at 19:15 on Tuesday, Kasselakis will meet and chat with party members and friends at the park of the Venizelos Tombs. 22:00, he will visit the Venetian Port of Chania and speak live on a television newscast.
Kasselakis, who has lived and worked in the United States in the shipping sector, was a candidate State Deputy for Syriza in the elections of 2023.
He will be the fifth person to declare candidacy for the party leadership after Alexis Tsipras stepped down and will be joining Efi Achtsioglou, Euclid Tsakalotos, Nikos Pappas, and Stefanos Tzoumakas in the party race.
