Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's Visit to Karpathos

Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, spent 24 hours in Karpathos and their journey continues! They arrived on Saturday evening, August 26, and are already exploring the cultural capital of the Dodecanese, the beautiful and renowned Olympos of Karpathos.

The famous actor arrived with his wife on two yachts, LIBRA and MARGARITA, yesterday afternoon and docked in the island's main port. They then took a walk and even took pictures with those who encountered them and engaged in conversation. Among the Carpathians who approached him were Skevos Kavouklis with his wife, Irini Deli, and Mina Pavlakos. Mr. Kavouklis informed him that there are many Greek-Americans on the island, including himself.
The hotelier-entrepreneur, Steve Kapetanakis, who provided and drove his new van to transport Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson, and their friendly couple from Diafani to Olympos and return them to their boats, reported to the Karpathian News that the famous couple had studied, gathered information, and knew quite a lot about Karpathos, even though it was their first visit to the island. On the contrary, their friendly couple had visited Olympos years ago.

They walked through the narrow streets of Olympos, and they even managed to see the unique sunset from the windmills. Afterwards, they dined at the Mylos restaurant and enjoyed traditional Karpathian recipes. Kolokithopouli, Karpathian salad, macarounes, and a variety of great flavors that Northern Karpathos generously offers.

Mr. Kapetanakis even told us that the locals were discreet and did not bother them. However, there is a photo that has already gone viral on the internet and is one of the most characteristic of their trip to Karpathos! It is none other than a snapshot with the priest of Olympos, Father Giannis Diakogeorgiou, who is also well-known worldwide, if we are allowed a small comparison.

Earlier, yesterday afternoon, Tom Hanks and his wife swam on a beach just before Agios Nikolaos Spoa, as reported to the Karpathian News by Steve Kapetanakis. He said, "if something will remain unforgettable for them, I am sure it is the sea and our beaches."

The Karpathian entrepreneur, who started the new business of private tours this year, confessed to us that his meeting with Tom Hanks was through a mutual acquaintance since he also has connections with the USA. Furthermore, he did not take any money for the transportation, as he emphasized that every celebrity who arrives in Karpathos is a gain for the island, so we should take care of them as much as we can. He described Mr. Hanks as a great person who stands firmly on the ground.
