Despite his disappointing record at the US Open, Stefanos Tsitsipas refused to attribute his poor performance to his new coaching team.
The seventh seed suffered a second-round defeat to Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker in a 4-hour and 4-minute match. Tsitsipas, who has never advanced past the third round at Flushing Meadows, made changes to his coaching set-up earlier this month, bringing back Mark Philippoussis and giving his father a break from coaching duties. However, Tsitsipas took full responsibility for his loss and stated that he could not blame his team or any individual for the result.
Saying this Stefanos Tsitsipas has reportedly dumped Aussie tennis great Mark Philippoussis as his coach after another disappointing early exit at the US Open. The Greek World No.7 has never made it past the third round at Flushing Meadows and that sorry record continued after a shock five-set loss against World No.128, Dominic Stricker.
