Among the audience that attended the Maria Farantouri and Zülfü Livaneli concert was Paloma Picasso, the fashion designer and entrepreneur, daughter of the iconic painter Pablo Picasso and the great artist Françoise Gilot.

Of French and Spanish origin, she carved her independent path in the creative universe, where she became known mainly for the jewellery she designed for Tiffany & Co. but also for her perfumes. She was also her father’s muse, immortalising her in his works.

In her new appearance at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, she posed with Maria Empirikou, wearing a kaftan with folklore details in black and white, matching hair tie and gold jewellery.

In the only concert, the Greek performer and the Turkish composer gave at the Odeon on September 7, they joined their voices at the foot of the Acropolis.

They sang about the solidarity and peaceful coexistence of peoples, with songs from their standard repertoire and from works of Mikis Theodorakis. The National Symphony Orchestra of ERT and Görkem Ezgi Yildirim participated.

The friendship of Maria Farantouri and Zülfü Livaneli spans more than four decades of mutual appreciation and cordial collaboration with concerts in Turkey, Greece and other European countries, as well as in the United States, serving as a model for open communication and peaceful coexistence of neighbouring peoples through their Art.
