A woman in Pakistan's Tandlianwala region was arrested on Thursday for allegedly fabricating charges of Quran desecration against some people in her locality.
According to an FIR registered by the Tandlianwala City police under Section 211 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 16 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960, 21 complainants claimed that the suspect was a drug peddler, reports Dawn News.
After locals confronted her, she threatened to desecrate the Holy Quran to spread false information. She also warned of inciting violence in the locality. They alleged she intended to falsely implicate the local people in the Quran desecration case that occurred in Jaranwala on August 16, the newspaper reported.
The suspect has been shifted to Faisalabad district jail.
