Cihat Yaycı: Ancient Turks introduced the anchor to the Greeks

The retired admiral, nationalist influencer and theoretician of the “Blue Homeland” theory, Cihat Yaycı, has come out with perhaps his most ludicrous claim to date – “Ancient Turks” introduced the anchor to the Greeks.

The brainchild of the ‘Blue Homeland’ theory, Turkey’s failed goal to steal Greek islands and maritime space, frequently on Turkish TV as an esteemed “intellectual” to make historical incorrect assertions and level ridiculous accusations against Greece.

In his latest television appearance, Yaycı says: “A series of propaganda is being made to inoculate the Turkish nation with an inferiority complex, supposedly how Turkey is not a naval nation.”

He then claims the ancient philosopher Anarchasis was a Scythian Turk, even though Scythians were Iranic, and says: “This Turk went to Athens and brought the Greeks two metal stems.”

“In other words, the Turks were the ones who invented the anchor with two stems,” he added.

According to Pliny the Elder (23-79 AD), the modern anchor was first invented by Eupalamus and was improved by Anacharsis from Scythia, a region influenced by Greek culture in the Cimmerian Bosporus, afterwards. Anacharsis mother was Greek.
