The chairman of the Board of Directors of Esas Holding – and owner of the private company Pegasus Airlines – Ali Sabancı, who was seriously injured in a sea accident in Greece, was discharged from a private hospital where he was treated in Istanbul.

Sabancı is one of Turkey’s wealthiest men, having been ranked 54th on Forbes’ 2017 list, with a fortune of over $650 million.

In August, he and his wife, Vuslat Doğan Sabancı, were seriously injured by a speedboat near Leros while enjoying their summer vacation.

The couple travelled with their children from Leipsos to Leros when the accident occurred.

The businessman himself drove the vessel. According to Turkish reports, their two children, Şevket Emrecan Sabancı and Kaan Ali Sabancı jumped into the sea shortly before the accident and were not injured.

His businesswoman wife was released from hospital last week, continuing to recuperate at their home. A few days ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Sabancı in the hospital and had a private conversation with him.

Erdoğan was also accompanied by the president of Fenerbahçe Sports Club Ali Koç.
