Heavy fine for the habit of thousands of drivers in Greece

smoking in the car habits

There are habits and addictions for which the prescribed fine is particularly harsh... and since, unfortunately, we cannot understand that we must respect those next to us, especially the minors, the laws come to impose on us... respect.

In Greece, as in many other countries of the European Union, the law has been established to protect citizens from the dangers of passive smoking. Recently, many countries have tightened their smoking laws, making them more restrictive.

In Greece, in recent years, smoking has been banned in all closed public places. As for smoking inside the car, when there are minors under 12 years old (really, why not under 18?), the law expressly prohibits it.

In case of violation, fines can reach 1,500 euros. As long as the vehicle is for public use, the penalty is 3,000 euros. Whether these laws are followed, at least in Private-use vehicles, is an issue.

But, really, should there be a fine to respect a child's health that we move with our car? What applies in other European countries:

United Kingdom: There is a ban on smoking in vehicles where under 18s are present. Fines for violators are as little as 50 pounds.

France also bans smoking in cars with children under 12. Fines can reach 68 euros.

Italy: Ban smoking in vehicles in the presence of minors or pregnant women. Fines range from 500 to 5,000 euros.

In general, the trend in the European Union is to strengthen the protection of minors and vulnerable groups from the risk of passive smoking.

Many countries have enacted restrictive car smoking regulations, especially when children or other vulnerable people are present.
