Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in New York ended as part of his presence at the UN General Assembly. The meeting lasted one hour in the Turkevi Center (Turkish House).
It was attended by the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis, and the director of the Prime Minister's Diplomatic Office, Anna Maria Boura. On the Turkish side, among others, were Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the diplomatic advisor of the President, Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
In the first minutes of the meeting in front of the cameras, the two leaders exchanged handshakes and were smiling at the front and, at one point, Kyriakos Mitsotakis was asked by Erdoğan's associates about the interpretation process.
The question was asked by Mr. Kilic (Erdoğan's diplomatic advisor), asking if he wants the translation at the same time or alternately and the Prime Minister answering to repeat as last time in Vilnius, at the NATO meeting.

In preparation for the meeting, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met on Monday in New York with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
Colleagues of the prime minister declared to Proto Thema that they "do not expect anything major" from today's meeting while referring to what Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at Sunday's press conference at TIF.
"A meeting between me and President Erdoğan will always be a matter of great interest, but the normalisation of communication channels is welcome for two countries that are doomed by geography to be neighbours," he said.
