Trikala

Central Greece will soon have a new museum - the Timeless Museum of Trikala, which will be housed in the TAX YP (formerly Support Brigade) building, a project which is part of the program of converting the former Poulios camp into a museum core of the city.

"The Ministry of Culture aims to upgrade and multiply the links of the great chain of museums in our country so that the particular cultural personality of each place is displayed in the light of sustainable management," Culture Minister Lina Mendoni said.

"In this context, in Thessaly, with resources from the NSRF 2014-2020, a coherent project plan of more than 35,000,000 euros is being completed concerning creating modern museums and cultural infrastructures and protecting and restoring monuments and archaeological sites.

"Creating the Timeless Museum at Trikala's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications premises serves this plan. Together with the major projects highlighting the archaeological site of Ancient Trikki, Trikala acquires a significant comparative development advantage centred on its rich cultural stock."

The building that will house the Timeless Museum consists of an elongated wing with a ground floor and three additional levels with an area of 1,000 sq.m.

According to the building program, the history and archaeology of the city, from ancient antiquity to the most recent centuries, is planned to be developed in the TAX—YP building, but also in its immediate surroundings, covering an area of 4.74 acres.

The study for the repair, modernisation and conversion of the building into a Museum aims at the structural and functional upgrading of the existing shell and its adaptation to meet the needs of a modern Museum.

Specifically, it concerns the modernisation of the building's functionality by upgrading the internal layout to house the new use, its structural and general building restoration so that it meets today's requirements based on the regulatory framework, the installation of the necessary electromechanical facilities and types of infrastructure required by the operation of a modern Museum,

The conversion program of the former Pouliou camp, whose buildings have been agreed to be leased for 99 years for cultural purposes, also includes the creation of an Interactive Technology Museum and the promotion of the Prophet Ilias Hill by the Municipality of Trikkaia for 99 years, among the Ministries of National Defense, Culture and the Municipality.
