MICHELIN Guide Athens: Celebrating the Culinary Delights of the Greek Capital

The first edition of the MICHELIN Guide Athens, a selection of restaurants in the Greek capital that offer unique dining experiences, was officially presented on Tuesday.

Published since 1933, the Michelin Guide is an exclusive star rating system that awards the most esteemed culinary establishments in the world. It already covers some 40 destinations across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America.

The decision to release a guide for Athens was based on the originality, diversity, sustainability, and creativity of the city’s new culinary scene. These qualities make Athens an attractive destination for high-income travelers seeking a city break.

The Michelin Guide for Athens includes 9 restaurants that have been awarded Michelin stars, showcasing their exceptional culinary skills. Additionally, the guide recommends 18 other restaurants for the quality of their ingredients and their unique culinary identity, which sets them apart.

This new guide puts the spotlight on the authentic flavors of Greece and showcases the rich culinary profile of Athens. It also strengthens the country’s position as one of the top tourism destinations.

The launch of the Michelin Guide Athens follows an agreement signed between the Greek National Tourism Organization’s secretary general, Dimitris Fragakis, and the European Director of the Michelin Experiences department, Tommy Maussin. This agreement includes a comprehensive plan to promote Greek gastronomy internationally through Michelin.

In Greece, the restaurants DELTA and SOIL have been awarded the prestigious MICHELIN Green Star, further elevating their status in the culinary world.
