Turkey’s interior ministry says the explosion in the capital is a “terrorist attack”. The minister says that a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the Turkish capital, fatally wounding two police officers, while the suicide bomber and another attacker are also dead.
Specifically, the Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement on his social media account, states: “Around 09:30, there was a bomb attack by two terrorists who came in a light commercial vehicle in front of the entrance gate of the Ministry’s General Directorate of Security Our interior.
“One of the terrorists blew himself up, and the other terrorist was neutralised. Two police officers were killed during the fire. Another member of ours was slightly injured. I wish our heroes a speedy recovery. The fight will continue relentlessly until the last terrorist is neutralised,” he added.
Several police vehicles and ambulances have rushed to the scene. After the panic, traffic was stopped on some roads, and the sounds of ambulances could be heard running to the area.
According to CNN TÜRK, the explosion occurred in a gray commercial vehicle. It is also reported that gunshots were heard after the explosion.
