Greece's Civil Defense will test its air raid system throughout the country between 11:00 am and 11:35 am on Monday, it was announced on Sunday.
The civil defence sirens will be activated in the Greek military exercise 'Parmenion-23' framework.
Testing the system will be as follows:
- 11:00, air raid sirens tested, over 60 seconds (an intermittent sound of varying volume)
- 11:05, air raid conclusion sirens, over 60 seconds (a consistent sound of the same volume)
- 11:30, air raid warning for chemical warfare threat (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents), over 120 seconds (intermittent sound of varying volume)
- 11:35, air raid conclusion sirens, over 60 seconds (a consistent sound of the same volume)
The schedule will be varied for Thessaloniki and other regions of Greece, with several regions tested between 12:25 and 12:55.
While air raid sirens are heard, all churches in Greece will be ringing their bells in a series of short rings at a fast tempo, over 3 minutes.
