Narrowing down the best restaurants from this rich tapestry of culinary experiences can be daunting. However, TripAdvisor has undertaken this challenge and unveiled the results of its Travellers’ Choice Awards, providing a definitive list of outstanding dining destinations.

To compile these rankings, the online review site, the largest platform for user-generated travel advice, meticulously analyzed 12 months of review data from June 2022 to May 2023. This extensive review covered 478 destinations in 58 countries, identifying five global categories that showcase the crème de la crème of dining experiences. Additionally, a selection of ‘everyday eats’ can be filtered by country.

TripAdvisor’s research indicates that 62 per cent of travellers are most eagerly anticipating the culinary delights on their upcoming journeys, with 40 per cent seeking to secure dining reservations even before their arrival.

One notable triumph is Restaurant Bougainville in Amsterdam, which leapt from thirteenth in the European rankings last year to claim the world’s finest dining establishment title. The United Kingdom performed exceptionally well, with five restaurants earning top honours.

In a year marked by a penchant for romantic getaways, ‘date night’ restaurants represent one of the six categories. The crown in this category went to Waitui Bar & Grill on Denarau Island, Fiji. TripAdvisor also grouped restaurants into categories such as ‘hidden gems,’ ‘family-friendly,’ and ‘vegetarian-friendly,’ ensuring that you will have guidance on where to satisfy your cravings regardless of your culinary preferences.
