The change in mayor of Athens and the other wins of PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) candidates in the Sunday runoff elections for regions and cities were welcomed by party leader Nikos Androulakis.
Calling the overturn of Kostas Bakoyannis in Athens by Haris Doukas "the victory of a local government that serves the citizen," Androulakis also attacked New Democracy leader and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for "arrogance, immodesty, and clientelistic practices" calling the results were the PM's "first great defeat". The Greek people sent a clear message to the dark practices he used for his electoral goals, the PASOK leader said.
PASOK-KINAL has a lot of struggles to fight ahead, Androulakis said, and a lot of challenges to face, but will win them by staying united.
