The expensive tastes of the Melissanidis family...

When News Auto tested the Rolls-Royce Cullinan for the first time, the whole essence of this particular car was summed up in the words of the brand's CEO at the time, Torsten Muller-Otvos.

"Cullinan customers want to drive their vehicles off-road. That is why I insisted that the off-road comfort surpasses all competitors, while on asphalt, it is at the level of the Phantom. The Cullinan must be the Rolls-Royce of SUVs. We are talking about the alternative of a luxury yacht cruise. The goal is ... everywhere effortlessly," he said.

The first Cullinan on Greek soil is a fact and belongs to the owner of AEK and a major player of of Aegean Shipping, Dimitris Melissanidis.

The love affair with cars dates back to when he started his business with the driving school in Nice, but as his financial power grew, so did his collection of luxury cars.

Dimitris Melissanidis maintains a not-inconsiderable personal museum of iconic models, but in the current phase with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, he goes to another level.

The black beast SUV, with an acquisition cost of more than half a million euros (depending on the personalised requirements of wealthy customers), is equipped with a turbocharged V12 engine of 571 hp, combined with an automatic transmission of eight speeds.

Dimitris Melissanidis' son, Georgios, also has a special love for performance cars. Months ago, News Auto had immortalised the Ferrari SF 90 Stradale of Georgios Melissanidis.

It is the first plug-in hybrid model of the Italian brand, powered by a 4.0-litre V8 combined with electric motors and produces 1,000 hp and 800 Nm. Its purchase price in Greece exceeds 600,000 euros.
