The Greek Community in Sydney is mourning the tragic passing of the owner and director of Divinity Funerals.
Dionysi grew up in the US but converted to the Orthodox Church after meeting his future wife, a Greek-Australian woman. He had previously spoken of his Baptism and the intense presence of the Holy Spirit he felt during the Sacrament.
“My christening gown was a pair of white basketball shorts and a Bonds singlet,” Denne recounted in an interview with SBS in 2019. “[A] 6 foot 1, 85 kilo man…I had to lean over the tub where they normally dip the baby.”
He also encouraged Greek-Australians to make converts feel welcome in the Orthodox Church and to help children feel more at home when they attend Church.
As the owner and director of Divinity Funerals, he amassed decades of experience in the funeral care industry.
