National Theatre of China comes to Athens for 2 performances

In the theatre area of Galatsi Olympic Properties, the "Sino-Hellenic International Theater Festival" will be held, and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy Chinese food, Kung fu and martial arts, great performances by the National Theater of China and much more.

At the centre of the festival are two excellent theatrical performances. The first, "The Prince of Lanling", is a unique masterpiece of the National Theater of China. The legendary story centres on Prince Lanling, a famous general of the Northern and Southern Dynasties period (420-581).

By focusing on the extremes of human nature, such as tenderness versus cruelty, represented by a unique symbolism (a sheep versus a wolf), he creates a modern version of the fable, "A life with a true soul versus a life wearing a false mask."

In each performance of the National Theater of China, dramaturgy, music, song, dance, and movement (with acrobatics and pantomime), as well as the great traditional costumes, are represented roughly equally.

This is also why the actors of the traditional theatre in China call their art zhonghe wish, that is, unifying-summative art form. The art of acting is seen as the art of the four skills: chang (singing), nian (recitation), da (martial arts) and Zuo (acting, movement).

The second performance, "The Myth of the White Snake - Remix", by the Sino-Greek Performing Arts Association, is a classic tale of love and adventure. Prepare to be mesmerised by the compelling storytelling and stunning art on display.

Outside the theatre, from 14:00 to 20:30, the celebration will continue with a series of cultural experiences guiding visitors through the rich tapestry of Chinese heritage. They will have the opportunity to taste the flavours of China, be introduced to the art of Kung Fu through exciting demonstrations and admire the grace and precision of dragon dance.

In addition, for those interested in the finer aspects of Chinese culture, there will be calligraphy demonstrations. After the performance, there will be interesting forums and discussions with acclaimed playwrights, actors and directors who will share their ideas and experiences, offering a glimpse into the exciting world of theatre.
