Tsunis: Greece is always on the right side of history

At the "Greece After VII: Asymmetries and National Agenda" conference, the US Ambassador to Greece, George Tsunis, conveyed a message affirming that Greece is a trustworthy country and a reliable ally to the American government.

In particular, the American ambassador George Tsunis observed that Greece is always on the right side of history and added that it is a country with values.

At the same time, he pointed out that when the world was on the brink of fascism, Greece was able to claim the first victory of the Allies against the Axis and gave the world hope noted: “The Archbishop of Athens Damaskinos wrote the first letter to Hitler protesting the persecution of Greek Jews because the Greek Church made no distinction between religious and non-religious. Consider the courage of the Archbishop to do such a thing.”

George Tsunis expressed his pride in being the ambassador to Greece. He stressed the importance of valuing every human life, regardless of their origin, particularly in the context of the Middle East. He also highlighted the ideals, values, and principles of ancient Athens that have been passed down to the United States, including the Republic's political system and ethos.

Finally, the American ambassador proposed the need to defend democracy, and equality, reduce income inequality, and promote gender equality, and inclusion, emphasizing that opportunities and freedoms should be available to everyone.
