Unstoppable Giakoumakis with a goal and 2 assists days after blasting Postecoglou - Watch video

Giorgos Giakoumakis is unstoppable in the MLS. The Greek ace was once again a catalyst for Atlanta, as with a goal and two assists, he led his team to a very important 4-2 victory against the Columbus Crew in the second match of the playoffs.

The Greek forward, who beat Messi to the award for the best "rookie" of the season, opened the scoring in the 38th minute before setting up Silva's 2-1.

Giakoumakis was again the one who assisted a goal for his team, as in the 83rd minute, he gave a pass to Mosquera for 3-1.

Atlanta United prevailed with an emphatic 4-2, thus levelling the series at 1-1, which will be decided in the third and final game that Giorgos Giakoumakis' team will play against the Columbus Crew.

His goal contributions comes after he took aim at Celtic for forcing him out and revealed his relationship with Ange Postecoglou was left broken.

The Greek striker has been voted the MLS Newcomer of the Season after an impressive debut campaign haul of 17 goals with Atlanta United. He joined Celtic under the current Tottenham boss in 2021 but played second fiddle to Kyogo Furuhashi, despite a strong showing of 26 goals in 57 appearances with limited starts.

He was a fans' favourite but speaking with The Athletic, he claims he had "issues" with executives at Parkhead despite a healthy dressing room relationship. And while there was no fight, his relationship with Postecoglou also fell by the wayside.

Giakoumakis said: “I wouldn’t think to leave Celtic if several things didn’t go wrong, and many of them were completely wrong. I cannot lie. My relationship with the manager wasn’t great, at the end of the day. We never had a specific fight, but he didn’t trust me as much as I wanted to feel trusted.”

“I had to go. I had to go. I never regretted a moment. I was sad that I had to leave Celtic. I was living a life there. I was like a god for the fans.

"My connection with them was really special, and it was sad, but I had to make my decision. My last month in Celtic I was suffering because of some people at the club. I didn’t receive the respect from the people or from the club. So actually, I think they forced me to go out.”
