KOZIAKAS: Shepherd fought a bear to save his flock

A 55-year-old shepherd who was with his flock in a forest area near the village of Vitoumas in Kalabaka, in the highlands of Koziakas, was injured fighting a bear to protect his sheep.

However, the wild animal attacked him and wounded him. Luckily for him slightly, immediately after, the bear ran away. A local rancher found him visibly shocked by the massive animal's attack and called for help.

The 55-year-old was taken to Trikala hospital, where it was found that he had not suffered severe injuries and was in good health.

Still, he remained hospitalised as, according to Trikala News, he is reportedly suffering from panic attacks after the terrifying encounter with the bear.
