Chalkida: Two Turks arrested by Anti-Terrorism Department

Officers of the Anti-Terrorism Department proceeded to arrest two Turks against whom an arrest warrant and a conviction were pending, respectively.

According to police, a 56-year-old man, who, according to the warrant, is accused of terrorist acts - supply, transport of weapons and explosives, as well as financing on behalf of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (Turkish: Devrimci Halk Kurtuluş Partisi-Cephesi or DHKP-C), a Marxist–Leninist communist party in Turkey recognised by Ankara, Washington and the European Union as a terrorist organisation.

A 54-year-old man was also arrested for violence against employees, simple physical injury in common in a series and damage to something that serves for common benefit.

In addition, both were charged for refusing to be fingerprinted and for the relevant forgery and weapons law offences, as the former displayed fake identification documents and the latter was in possession of pepper spray.

From the investigations carried out, among others, the following were found and seized:

- fake identification documents,

- mobile devices,

- data storage cards,

- pepper spray and

- amount of money.

The arrested were taken to the competent Prosecutor's Office.
